We are currently looking for a 5+ years experienced Middleware Application Support Specialist for servicing the technology requirements of an Insurance company in Tokyo, Japan. The successful candidate for this role will work as part of IT Operations team to provide technical support and administration for:
- Installing/Configuring IBM and Microsoft product such as WebSpehere Application Server, WebSphere MQ, IBM HTTP Server, Apache, Tomcat, CICS, Tivoli, Citrix Presentation server, MS Project Server
- Escalate problems to the appropriate group and work together with each group to resolve issues as quickly as possible. Record, track and resolve problems through problem management system. Interface between users and development / production groups regarding the problems, enhancements, bug fixes, problem reviews.
- Be involved in UAT and implementation phase for changes and enhancements of systems and applications. Change management and coordination.
- Identify opportunities for improvement, integration or automation of systems and processes to be implemented by Development groups.
- Create & maintain documentation & procedures.
- Bachelor degree with 5+ years experience on supporting IBM and Microsoft products such as Websphere Application server 6.x, WebSphere MQ, IBM HTTP server, Apache, Tomcat, CICS, Tivoli, Citrix Presentation Server 4.5, Project Server 2000/2003/2005.
- Excellent knowledge and experience of OS (Windows2000/2003, AIX 4.3, 5.3, Active Directory)
- Ability to solve problems quickly and to automate and improve processes
- Experience working on projects through full life cycle development, test, user acceptance test and production.
- Knowledge and experience on Enterprise Backup tools, mainly EMC Networker, IBM TSM, and BackupExce.
- Documentation skills (English & Japanese).
Language Skills:
- Business level English
- Intermediate (JLPT Level 3) or Business level (JLPT Level 2) Japanese language skills is a must
- Insurance Industry experience will be plus but not mandatory.
- Experience on installing/configuring/troubleshooting Database DB2 8.x, Oracle 8.x/9.x/10g, SQL Server 2000/2005.
- Experience of supporting Solcorp's Ingenium product, and Actuate reporting system a big plus.
- Basic knowledge of programming in VB, JAVA, .Net and shell scripting would be added advantage.
